CARE Ratings report: Overall Jobs Growth Rate Slips to 3.5% in FY20

  • According to the CARE Ratings report, the employment growth rate declined to 3.5 per cent in FY20 from 3.8 per cent in the previous fiscal year, but the total number of jobs increased to 50.02 lakh from 48.32 lakh.

UNICEF: India’s child mortality rate declines

  • According to the mortality estimates, the under-five mortality rate (deaths per 1000 live births) in India declined from 126 in 1990 to 34 in 2019.The report was jointly released by the UNICEF, WHO, Population Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the World Bank Group.

NSO’s Report on Literacy Rate

  • The National Statistical Office (NSO) released a report titled ‘Household Social Consumption: Education’. As per the report Kerala topped the list while Andhra Pradesh emerged as the least literate state, standing below Bihar.
  • Delhi stands at second position with 89% literacy rate. Uttarakhand is at number three with a literacy rate of 87.6% while Assam freezes at number four with 85.9% literacy rate.

  • Switzerland has bagged the first spot, followed by Sweden, the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.

  • As per the report of FutureBrand Index 2020, Reliance Industries has been ranked the second biggest brand after Apple. The 2020 list is topped by Apple, while Samsung is ranked third, followed by Nvidia, Moutai, Nike, Microsoft, ASML, PayPal and Netflix.
