Japan commits ODA of Rs 3500 crore to fight COVID-19 in India

  • In order to fight the COVID-19 crisis, India will receive an Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan of an amount of JPY50 billion (approx. Rs. 3,500 crore) from the government of Japan for the COVID-19 Crisis Emergency Response Support.

Adani to acquire Mumbai airport

  • Adani Airport Holdings (AAHL), which is a subsidiary and flagship holding company of Adani Group for its airport business, is all set to acquire Mumbai International airport. The airport which is a Joint Venture between the Airports Authority of India (AIA) and the GVK Industries Ltd is operated by Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL).

Former President Pranab Mukherjee passes away

  • The former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee passed away at the age of 84. He had tested positive for the coronavirus disease before undergoing successful surgery to remove a brain clot
  • He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2019.
  • He was the fifth president to receive this Bharat Ratna award.

World’s Largest Solar Tree developed by CSIR-CMERI

Largest Solar Tree
  • The CSIR-CMERI has set up the world’s largest solar tree at its residential colony in Durgapur, West Bengal. The solar tree has an installed capacity above 11.5 kWp.
  • The annual capacity of the solar tree will include generating about 12,000-14,000 units of clean and green power.
  • Objective: to ensure maximum exposure of each Solar PV Panel to sunlight and create least amount of shadow area beneath.
