The Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey started the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship programme in the Indian Institute of Management in Bengaluru. The Fellowship is started as part of the Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood (SANKALP) programme of the ministry to provide skilled manpower for District Skill Committees to make the District Skill Development plan.

The Helpline No. 011-2656 5285 would clear doubts cleared related to programs of Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST). Now, this Helpline will give handholding to women scientists in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and will be available during office hours (09:30 am to 05:30 pm) during working days.
India remained the world’s second largest arms importer during the period 2015-19, with Russia being the largest supplier though Moscow’s share of the Indian weapons market rejected from 72% to 56%, a leading think tank that tracks arms transfers stated in its annual report. In its annual “Trends in international arms transfers 2019″ report, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) listed the world’s top five arms importers during the five-year period as Saudi Arabia, India, Egypt, Australia and China.

It was developed in association with Avtar, a career portal service for women, and the Indian School of Business, the programme aims to influence the overall gender mix in the digital marketing landscape in India and will provide an opportunity for 200 women professionals to re-skill themselves.
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) declared the name of the 5th Mars (red planet) rover as Perseverance. Previously the rover was known by its code name as Mars 2020. The name was given by Alexander Mather, 7th standard student and was declared by Nasa’s director of science, Thomas Zurbuchen at an event in Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Virginia. The Perseverance rover will be the 5th exploratory vehicle after Sojourner, Spirit, Opportunity and Curiosity.
The Central Government is implementing the flagship programme Poshan Abhiyan for enhancing the nutritional status of Indian citizens. This programme aids children, adolescents, pregnant women, and lactating mothers by leveraging technology. The importance of being given to the programme is evident from the fact that as many as 14 Central Departments and all the State Governments are being involved in the programme. Tamil Nadu tops the list of the states in terms of the number of participants in this programme.
Chief Secretary of Punjab, Karan Avtar Singh has started a mobile application, COVA Punjab. COVA stands for Corona Virus Alert. This app has been made by the Department of Government Reforms and Public Grievances in consultation with the Health and Family Welfare Department to spread awareness by sharing various travel and preventive care advisories.
Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar has declared that Sanitary napkin makers will be asked to supply a biodegradable bag with each napkin from January 2021. Javadekar stated that the sanitation norms for Corporations and municipalities will now be applied to villages with a population of more than three thousand.
Tech giant Intel and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to digitally empower nearly one lakh students with Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration in India’s education system. Initiatives include the roll-out of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum framework for grades VIII, IX and X for 22,000 schools, with the target to empower one lakh students within 2020.
Indian Coast Guard carried out a two-day National Maritime Search and Rescue Workshop and Exercise-2020 (SAREX-20) in Goa which saw participation by 24 overseas partners from 19 countries. SAREX-20 saw the largest ever participation from international delegates including 38 national observers and representatives of seven commercial airlines including two helicopter operators.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd in partnership with Paytm has released a QR-code-based metro ticketing system at Rasoolpura metro station Hyderabad, Telangana. The new service will allow commuters to travel seamlessly and avoid queues to buy tokens at the metro stations. They can now simply purchase a QR ticket on their Paytm app, which can be displayed at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates to proceed for the journey.
