Gold reserves found by GSI in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh

The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has found gold reserves in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. These reserves are approximated to be around 3000 tonnes which is almost five times of India’s present gold reserves. The newly found reserves are valued at Rs 12 lakh crore.

Meerut to have India’s first war memorial for animals

Meerut city in Uttar Pradesh will be host to India’s first war memorial for service animals including dogs, horses and mules. This place will dedicate itself to the contributions and heroics of animals who have helped the army in counter insurgency operations in Kashmir and in the battlefield during the Kargil War.

The memorial, claimed by officials to be similar to the National Warn Memorial in Delhi, will come up at the army’s specialized breeding, rearing and training centre for animals: the Remount and Veterinary Corps (RVC) Centre and College in Meerut.

The preliminary design of the memorial and the land has already been identified. Granite tablets with names and service numbers of more than 300 dogs, 350 handlers and a few horses’ mules will be inscribed at the memorial. The army has more than 100 dogs, 5000 mules and 1500 horses.

Mansi, a Labrador, who was awarded army’s highest honour for dogs due to her role in the counter insurgency operations in Kashmir in 2016, tops the list of animals to be remembered. Her handler, Bashir Ahmed War, will also adorn the tablet.

IIM Indore to provide training to Uttar Pradesh Police

The Indian Institute of Management Indore in Madhya Pradesh will teach lessons on crowd management and effective communication to Uttar Pradesh police. A memorandum of understanding for this project was signed by UP Director General of Police OP Singh and IIM Indore Director Professor Himanshu Rai in Lucknow on Tuesday.

Under the agreement, police will be trained in traffic management, data analysis, use of artificial intelligence, social media management among other aspects. The MoU comes at time when UP, as well as other states, are seeing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, several of which have turned violent.

Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana launched in Uttar Pradesh

Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana has been launched by the government of Uttar Pradesh to provide financial assistance of five lakh rupees to the family of farmers who die or become handicapped while working in fields.

The scheme will cover farmers and their family members in the age group of 18-70 years and for the first time, will also include the Bataidars, who work in the field of other persons and share the crop after it is harvested.

Government has also decided to implement Mukhyamantri Paryatan Samvardhan Yojana to boost tourism in state under which one tourist point will be developed with a fund of 50 lakh rupees in each and every assembly segment of the state.

23rd National Youth Festival 2020 begins in Lucknow

On the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, 23rd National Youth Festival 2020 started with a grand inauguration ceremony in Lucknow, Uttar. The festival will take place between from 12th to 16th January.

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the State Government of Uttar Pradesh are jointly organising the national youth festival. The objective of NYF is to provide a platform to bring the youth of the country together in an attempt to provide them opportunity to showcase their talents in various activities.

The theme of the 23rd National Youth Festival 2020 is ‘FIT YOUTH FIT INDIA’ in pursuance of the goal of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for New India to be a fit India.
