Ola to set up world’s largest scooter factory in Tamil Nadu

• The SoftBank-backed mobility platform, Ola has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government, to set up its first factory in the state, at an investment of Rs 2,400 crore.
• Upon completion, the Ola factory in Tamil Nadu will be the largest scooter production facility in the world. Initially, the factory will have a yearly manufacturing capacity of 2 million units.

Cyclonic Storm “Burevi” over southwest Bay of Bengal

• The Deep Depression developed over the southeast and adjoining the southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a Cyclonic Storm ‘Burevi’ over southwest Bay of Bengal.
• It is about 240 km east-southeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 470 km east-southeast of Pamban (Tamil Nadu) and 650 km nearly east-northeast of Kanniyakumari (Tamil Nadu).

M. Venkaiah Naidu confers 2nd National Water Awards

• The Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu has conferred the National Water Awards (NWAs) for 2019.
• This is the second edition of the award. Among the states category, Tamil Nadu got the Best State Award, followed by Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
