Odisha to organize 2023 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup

• The International Hockey Federation (FIH) had declared that the 2023 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup will be organized in Odisha, for a second consecutive time.
• The tournament will be held at two venues, Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. The Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 was also hosted by Odisha.

International Sand Art Festival & Konark Festival 2020 starts

• The 9th edition of the International Sand Art Festival and the 31st edition of the Konark Festival has started in Odisha.
• International Sand Art Festival is being organized at the Chandrabhaga Beach of Konark in Puri district of Odisha.

• Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has released ‘Secha Samadhan’, a bilingual mobile application, to address the irrigation difficulties faced by farmers without them having to visit the offices concerned.

Two-day joint coastal security exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’ starts

• A two-day joint coastal security exercise, “Sagar Kavach” was started at Paradip Coast, Odisha. The exercise is being conducted by a joint effort of the state of Odisha and West Bengal governments.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik launches ‘Mo Bidyut’ portal

• Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik has launched the electricity consumer service portal” Mo Bidyut” and a mobile app through video conference. This portal will benefit around 89 lakh electricity consumers of the state.

SANT missile successfully test-fired off the coast of Odisha

• Indian successfully test-fired the Stand-off-Anti-tank (SANT) missile off the Odisha coast on October 19, 2020 which was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

• Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired a new version of the surface-to-surface nuclear-capable ballistic missile “Shaurya” at Balasore, off the coast of Odisha.

India conducts a successful flight test of ABHYAS

• The Defence Research and Development Organization conducted a successful flight test of ABHYAS- High speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) vehicle at the Balasore test range in Odisha. This can now be used as a target for evaluation of missiles.

• The second edition of the States’ Startup Ranking Exercise was conducted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
• Gujarat has been categorised as the best performer among all States and one Union Territory (UT), Delhi.
• Karnataka and Kerala have been ranked as ‘top performers’
• Bihar, Odisha and Rajasthan have been ranked as the ‘leaders’.
