The International Hockey Federation (FIH) had declared that the 2023 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup will be organized in Odisha, for a second consecutive time.
The tournament will be held at two venues, Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. The Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 was also hosted by Odisha.

The Defence Research and Development Organization conducted a successful flight test of ABHYAS- High speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) vehicle at the Balasore test range in Odisha. This can now be used as a target for evaluation of missiles.
