  • The latest mobile RT-PCR lab developed by IISc Bengaluru is the country’s only ICMR approved lab which is capable of conducting 9000 RT-PCR tests per month. The first-of-its-kind mobile COVID-19 lab was launched by the Karnataka Education Minister Dr. K Sudhakar.

Karnataka to set up integrated biotech and life sciences park in Bengaluru

  • Rs 5,000 crore worth life sciences park to be set up in Bengaluru with an aim to generate employment for 50,000 people.
  • The project is being set up under a public-private partnership with the government of Karnataka and private entity Labzone Corp.
  • The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by December 2022. It will be spread across 9 million square feet in Bengaluru electronic city. 52.27 acres has been allotted.

Flipkart signs MoU with Govt. Of Karnataka To Promote Local Art, Craft and Handlooms Sector

  • Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, and Department of MSME and Mines, Government of Karnataka have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the state’s Arts, Crafts and Handloom sectors, by bringing them on to e-commerce and providing market access.
  • The partnership will enable local artisans, weavers and craftsmen of Karnataka to showcase their hallmark products to a pan-India customer base.

Karnataka starts Weavers Sammaan Yojana

  • Karnataka’s Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa began Weavers Sammaan Yojana on 6th July. Under this scheme, 19,744 handloom weavers will get yearly financial support of two thousand rupees through Direct Benefit Transfer.
