J&K : 3rd phase of ‘Back to Village’ programme from October 2 to 12

• Third phase of the ambitious Back to Village (B2V) programme will start from October 2 to 12, this year in J&K. The program is an introductory and interactive programme to understand the people’s grievances and demands.

Biodiversity Council set up by J&K Government

• The Jammu and Kashmir government set up a 10-member biodiversity council to document the biodiversity of the union territory. This council will maintain a Peoples Biodiversity Register (PBR) with the help of representatives from local governance bodies.

J&K official languages Bill 2020 approved by Union Cabinet

• J&K official languages Bill 2020 approved by the Union Cabinet.
• According to the J&K official languages Bill 2020, the official languages in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir will be Kashmiri, Dogri and Hindi along with Urdu and English.

The government will establish three Bamboo Cluster in J&K

• Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, plans to develop three Bamboo Clusters in Jammu, Katra and Samba region providing direct employment to nearly 25,000 people.

‘Iraada’ Campaign Launched J&K

• In Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Dr Sagar D. Doifode , Doda District Deputy Commissioner(DCC) launched ‘Iraada’ campaign to receive the financial assistance benefits under various social welfare schemes, which includes old age pension, widow and handicap scheme.

E-auction portal launched to promote trading of GI-tagged ‘Kashmir Saffron’

• ‘Nasha-Mukt Bharat’ – Drug free India campaign launched in J&K by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India to spread awareness about the side-effects of Drug Addiction in the society.

New Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir: Manoj Sinha

• Manoj Sinha was appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on August 6, 2020 by President Ram Nath Kovind. Sinha will be replacing Girish Chandra Murmu who resigned on August 5, 2020.

A total of 24 States now adopted ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’

August 2, 2020

• Four additional states, namely Jammu & Kashmir, Manipur, Nagaland and Uttarakhand adopted the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ plan of the Central government. The remaining states/UT will implement this scheme by March 2021.

12 AMRIT pharmacies started in J&K

• The Jammu and Kashmir Government has established 12 AMRIT Pharmacies across the UT to reduce Out of Pocket Expenditure for consumers. These stores provide branded drugs and implants surgical and disposable at affordable prices.
