India and Afghanistan sign 5 MoUs for the development of educational infrastructure

• India and Afghanistan inked five Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) on July 5, 2020. The MoUs between the two countries have been meant for the development of educational infrastructure in 4 provinces of Afghanistan namely Farah, Nooristan, Kapisa, Badakhshan.

Home Ministry makes national level committee for reform in criminal law; led by Ranbir Singh

• The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has formed a national level committee for reform in criminal law, chaired by Ranbir Singh (Vice-Chancellor, National Law University, Delhi). The consultation exercise would begin on July 4 and go on for the next three months.

India slides down at 77th place in estimating money in Swiss banks

• India has rolled down three spots to 77th rank in terms of money deposited by its citizens and enterprises with Swiss banks at the end of 2019, while the UK has maintained its top position, as per the recent data from Switzerland’s central bank. India was placed 74th in the previous year.
