ICMR suggests hydroxychloroquine for caregivers of COVID-19 patients

• Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has prescribed the hydroxychloroquine for healthcare workers or persons staying with and caring for positive COVID-19 patients.
• This protocol has been recommended by the Drug Controller General of India (DGCI), Dr. V. G. Somani.

YouTube lowers video streaming quality in India

• YouTube has planned to lessen streaming quality for users in India until 31st March 2020 to lower strain on Internet networks during the coronavirus pandemic.
• They have planned to temporarily default High Definition (HD) and ultra-High Definition (HD) streaming to Standard Definition (SD) content.

US & UAE troops begin biennial exercise “Native Fury”

• US Marines and UAE Emirati forces carried out the biennial exercise, named Native Fury at Abu Dhabi.
• The exercise saw 4,000 U.S. troops from the Army, Marines and Navy position armored vehicles and other machinery from Kuwait and the island of Diego Garcia in al-Hamra using a portable pier system.

• The International Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing Staff Members is celebrated on 25 March by the United Nations every year on the anniversary of the abduction of Alec Collett.
• He was a former journalist who was working for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) when he was kidnaped by armed gunmen in 1985.

Reliance initiates India’s 1st COVID-19 dedicated hospital in Mumbai

• Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has started India’s first COVID-19 dedicated hospital in Mumbai.
• All beds in the hospital are provided with the required infrastructure, bio-medical devices such as ventilators, pacemakers, dialysis machines and patient monitoring devices.

A book named ‘Legacy Of Learning’ authored by Savita Chhabra launched

The Abel Prize Laureates 2020 declared

• The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters nominated Hillel Furstenberg from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel and Gregory Margulis from Yale University, the USA as winners of the Abel Prize 2020.
• They are honored for their “pioneering use of methods from probability & dynamics in group theory, number theory, and combinatorics”.
