Global Economy can suffer a loss of USD 4 Trillion due to COVID-19: ADB

Google to donate USD 6.5 million to tackle fake news related to coronavirus

Tata Power JV begins Shuakhevi HPP in Georgia

• Tata Power Company’s mutual venture with Norway’s Clean Energy Invest (CEI), and International Financial Corporation (IFC) has begun commercial operation of a 178-megawatt hydropower project in Georgia.
• After the 178 MW-Shuakhevi Hydro Power Project, the JV will commission 9 MW units, i.e the Skhalta Hydro Power project.

Saudi Arabia assures continuous LPG supply to India

• Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan has declared that Saudi Arabia assured India to get constant Liquefied petroleum Gas(LPG) supply during the conversation on global oil market developments with Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Aramco’s Chief Executive Amin Nasser via video conference.

Report ‘Boom & Bust 2020’: 4 New Coal projects added in India

• “Boom and Bust 2020:Tracking the Global Plant Pipeline” 47.4 GW coal-fired power projects at different stages were removed in India in 2019 which lessened total under development coal capacity to 66 GW.
• The report is the fifth annual survey of the coal plant pipeline.

Global economy now in slowdown said IMF head said

• The Chief of the International Monetary Fund said it is clear that the global economy has now entered a slowdown that could be as bad or worse than the 2009 downturn.
• IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said the 189-nation lending agency was projecting a recovery in 2021.

North Macedonia becomes 30th member of NATO

• The Republic of North Macedonia has joined as the 30th member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization(NATO).
• North Macedonia’s accession increases “security and stability” across the Western Balkans and is a mark of NATO’s “open door policy“, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas stated.

US releases advanced high-frequency satellite for military communication

• The United States Space Force has released an Advanced Extremely High-Frequency satellite (AEHF-6) for its military communications.
• The Lock Heed Martin AEHF-6 (Advanced Extremely High Frequency) satellite was ejected on the Atlas V551 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida to provide global protected communications.

ITU begins “Global Network Resiliency Platform”: COVID-19

• The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) started a “Global Network Resiliency Platform” to serve global networks that remain “safer, stronger and more connected” during the COVID-19 crisis.
• The platform will support the government & private sector to assure that networks are kept flexible and all telecommunication services.
