● Trial of transshipment of goods from India to the North East through the Chittagong port of Bangladesh begins.
● The trial run will be completed after the Indian goods reach Tripura and Assam.
● After unloading from the Chattogram Port, Bangladeshi prime mover trucks would
carry the goods to West Tripura and Assam through Agartala Land Port.
The 1st edition of the Bharat-Bangla Paryatan Utsav-Tourism festival has initiated in Agartala, Tripura to uplift tourism in Tripura. The festival has been organized in memories of the contribution of Tripura in 1971 Bangladesh liberation war as well as to boost the tourism sector of Tripura.
Tripura hosts the “Run for India Tea” which was organized in collaboration by Tripura Tea Development Corporation (TTDC) and Tea Board of India. The event aims to further advertise and popularise Tripura tea alongside India tea and to boost the tea industry in the state.
First ever Hornbill festival of Tripura was organized in Agartala. The aim to conserve the striking forest bird “Hornbill” and to uplift the livelihood of the people through tourism.
In Tripura, Lai Haraoba, a ritualistic festival observed by Manipuri meitei communities began in Agartala. The 5-day long festival is jointly organised by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Government of Tripura, Puthiba Lai Haraoba Committee and Puthiba Welfare & Cultural Society, Agartala.
Lai Haraoba is celebrated through oral literature, music, dance and rituals. A cultural troupe from Manipur has also come to take part in the festival. They will be performing various cultural and traditional musical skits including Manipuri martial arts, folk music and folk dances during the festival.
The five-day long festival was inaugurated by Speaker of state legislative Assembly, Rebati Mohan Das. The festival aims to uphold tradition and cultural values of Meitei community.
