Qatar to host 2030 Asian Games, 2034 edition in Saudi Arabia

• The 2030 Asian Games were bestowed to Doha, Qatar and the 2034 event went to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia after a deal was struck between the rival nations.
• Doha beat Riyadh for the 2030 Games in the vote at the Olympic Council of Asia’s (OCA) general assembly.

15th G20 Summit conducted under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia

• The 15th G20 Summit was conducted under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia chaired the Summit through video-conferencing, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• The two-day Summit was held under the theme “Realising the Opportunities of the 21st Century for All”.

Environment Ministerial Meeting of G20 held

• The Environment Ministerial Meeting (EMM) of the G20 countries was held through video conferencing under the Presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Union Environment, Climate Change and Forest Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar represented India in the meeting.

• Saudi Arabia will host the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Extraordinary Meeting virtually. India proposed the setting up of voluntary ‘G20 Principles on Coordinated Cross-Border Movement of People’. India will be represented by the External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar.

Reliance sells 2.32% stake in Jio to Saudi wealth fund PIF for Rs 11,367 cr

• Saudi Arabia’s PIF, one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, will invest Rs 11,367 crore for 2.32 percent of Jio Platforms, a well-known eleventh investment in the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) digital unit in nine weeks.

G-20 launches a new initiative to fight COVID-19

No death penalty for minors in Saudi Arabia

• Saudi Arabia has passed a new order that abolishes death penalty for the minors committing serious crimes. Instead of being executed, they will be getting prisonment for a maximum period of 10 years as announced by president of Saudi government’s Human Rights Commission, Awwad Alawwad.

Saudi Arabia assures continuous LPG supply to India

• Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan has declared that Saudi Arabia assured India to get constant Liquefied petroleum Gas(LPG) supply during the conversation on global oil market developments with Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Aramco’s Chief Executive Amin Nasser via video conference.
