PASSEX carried out by the Indian Navy and Russian Navy

• The Indian Navy (IN) and the Russian Federation Navy (RuFN) are undertaking Passage Exercise (PASSEX) in the Eastern Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
• The exercise will help in improving interoperability, advancing the understanding and imbibing best practices between both the friendly navies. It involves advanced surface and anti-submarine warfare exercises, weapon firings, seamanship exercises and helicopter operations.

Russia test-fired Tsirkon hypersonic missile in the Arctic

• Russia successfully test-fired a Tsirkon hypersonic cruise missile in the Arctic. the frigate Admiral Gorshkov in the White Sea fired a Tsirkon hypersonic cruise missile, hitting a naval target 450 km away in the Barents Sea at a speed of over Mach 8.

PM Modi virtually attends 12th BRICS Summit

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has virtually addressed the 12th (BRICS) Summit.
• The Summit was conducted under the Chairmanship of Russian President Vladimir Putin. India will be taking over the Chairmanship of the BRICS in 2021 and host the 13th BRICS Summit in 2021.

Russian Daniil Medvedev wins Paris Master 2020

• Russian, Daniil Medvedev has won Paris Master 2020 title in badminton, when he beat Alexander Zverev 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 in Paris. He became the fourth Russian to capture the Rolex Paris Masters title.

India, Russia announced as joint winners at FIDE Chess Olympiad

• India and Russia were announced on August 30, 2020, as the joint winners of FIDE (International Chess Federation) Chess Olympiad as Divya Deshmukh and Nihal Sarin lost connection to their games in the 2nd round and had to forfeit.

Russia: Tsirkon hypersonic missile successfully test-fires

• Russia successfully test-fired a Tsirkon hypersonic cruise missile in the Arctic. The missile covered a distance of 450 km with the maximum altitude of its trajectory at 28 km.
