India and the Maldives have inked four agreements, during the visit of Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla to the Maldives. Shringla is on a two-day visit to the Indian Ocean archipelago to enhance the relations between the two countries.
To boost trade between the two countries, India and the Maldives have launched the first-ever direct Cargo Ferry Service which is connected with ports of Tuticorin and Cochin ports with Kulhudhuhfushi and Male ports in the Maldives.

On July 22, 2020, India and Maldives signed an agreement to set up Geydoshu Mas Plant (Neighborhood Fish Processing Plants) at two islands in the Addu city of Maldives namely Maradhoo and Hulhudhoo.
