Student Health Card scheme for school children started in J&K

Student Health Card

A “Student Health Card” scheme has been started in the Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir. The scheme targets to check the malnutrition in school going children and to ensure good health of every school going children. The “Student Health Card” scheme was started during the programme which was organised by Directorate of Mid Day Meal, School Education Department in cooperation with the National Health Mission.

Objective: to ensure good health of school-going children, as health is a significant part of imparting quality education.

Eligibility: School children

Jammu historic city square renamed as ‘Bharat Mata Chowk’

The historic City Chowk in old Jammu was renamed as ‘Bharat Mata Chowk’. A resolution in this regard was advanced by the General house of the BJP(Bharatiya Janata Party)-led Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), after which it was done.

‘Watan Ko Jano’ youth exchange programme

J&K Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan has flagged off a youth exchange programme ‘Watan Ko Jano’. The programme has been managed by Jammu and Kashmir Rehabilitation Council, Department of Social Welfare under the aegis of Department of JK Affairs, Government of India.

Srinagar joins the list of ‘Open Defecation Free’ cities

Junaid Azim Mattu, Mayor of Srinagar announced Srinagar as ‘Open Defecation Free’. Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Central Government presented the Swachhata Certificate to Srinagar making its place in the list of cities that are now ‘Open Defecation free’. It’s another achievement after Srinagar gets 45th Rank in Cleanest Cities in the country.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or the Clean India Mission was introduced as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 in 2014. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan meant to make India the Open Defecation Free (ODF) by 2019. It ensures to provide sanitation facilities to all. The campaign was completed by 2 October 2019 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

3rd North Zone Conference of Media Units held in Jammu

The 3rd edition of North Zone Conference’ of Media Units of Information and Broadcasting Ministry, is being held in Jammu. The two-day Conference is organised by the Regional Outreach Bureau, Jammu and Kashmir region.

Joint Secretary Vikram Sahay asked the IIS officers to work in coordination and effectively promote programmes and policies of the Union Government. He stressed upon the young officers to learn and disseminate information in regional languages.

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Dept launches publicity campaign at SATTE 2020

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has launched a massive publicity campaign at the ongoing South Asian Trade and Travel Exchange Expo (SATTE) 2020, to showcase diverse tourism attractions of the twin regions. Aimed at building new business partnerships, SATTE is an important avenue for the promotion of tourism.

The three-day expo, sponsored by J&K Tourism Department and supported by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has been organized in New Delhi. The 27th Edition of SATTE has witnessed participation of over 1,000 delegates from over 50 countries and 28 Indian states.

Ex-CRPF DG Bhatnagar appointed Advisor to J&K Lt. Governor

IPS officer Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, who recently retired as the CRPF DG, has been appointed as an advisor to the Lt. Governor of Jammu-Kashmir. Bhatnagar is a 1983-batch officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He superannuated as the CRPF Director General (DG) on December 31 last year after heading the 3.25 lakh personnel force for over two and a half years.

The Advisor shall assist the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the effective discharge of his functions. G C Murmu, an IAS officer, is the LG of Jammu Kashmir UT since its creation on October 31 last year.

Govt approves release of Grant-in-Aid of Rs 2.6 cr to J&K Pollution Control Board

Environment and Forests Ministry has approved the release of Grant-in-Aid of 6 crore rupees to J&K Pollution Control Board. Under this scheme, the JK PCB shall provide financial assistance to 3742 number of Eco Clubs of registered schools in both the regions of J&K along with 96 Eco-Clubs for registered Colleges.

The environment education, awareness and Training scheme of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Govt. of India for National Green Corps (Eco-Clubs) which was closed for over a decade has been revived for J&K.
