IOCL starts India’s first 100 Octane Premium Petrol

  • Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel, Dharmendra Pradhan started India’s first indigenously developed ‘100 Octane premium petrol’ via video conferencing.
  • Octane ratings are measures of fuel stability that enhances engine efficiency. The high octane premium grade petrol will be marketed under the brand ‘XP-100’. It has been developed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at its Mathura refinery in Uttar Pradesh.

  • Indian Oil Corp (IOC) director-pipelines Akshay Kumar Singh will be the new managing director and chief executive of the country’s biggest gas importer, Petronet LNG Ltd.
  • He will take place of Prabhat Singh who completed his 5-year term.

Shrikant Madhav Vaidya appointed as IOC Chairman

  • Shrikant Madhav Vaidya on 2nd July appointed as the new chairman of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). Prior to this, Vaidya was working as the Director (Refineries) on the IOC Board, since October 2019.

MoU inked between Indian oil, NTPC Ltd, and SDMC for Waste to Energy plant in Delhi

  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked on Waste to Energy plant at Okhla, Delhi, between Indian Oil, NTPC Ltd and South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC).
  • The plant has the potential to process 17500 tons of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) per annum from municipal solid garbage to generate Syngas which is used to produce electricity.

IOC becomes 1st company to start the supply of BS-VI fuel across India

  • Indian Oil Corporation Limited has begun supplying BS-VI fuel across India. Indian Oil Corporation Limited has become 1st company to commence the supply of BS-VI fuel across its 28,000 petrol pumps.
  • BS (Bharat Satge)-VI grade fuel is the world’s cleanest fuel comprising just 10 parts per million of sulphur.
