  • A Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Department of Defence (DoD) Ministry of Defence (MoD), Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) and Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK) on 4 August 2020.They IIT Kanpur will develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Techniques to conduct exploratory and predictive analysis of Public Grievances.

HRD Minister launches ‘world’s most affordable’ Covid-19 test kit developed by IIT Delhi

  • Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Minister of State for HRD Sanjay Dhotre have launched the most affordable COVID-19 test Kit.
  • It has been produced by IIT Delhi and manufactured by New Tech Medical Devices.
  • COROSURE is one of the companies which has received the non exclusive license from IIT Delhi for the probe free RT-PCR based COVID-19 test kit.

IIT Kanpur develops UV sanitizing device ‘SHUDH’

  • IIT Kanpur has developed an Ultraviolet (UV) sanitizing device named Smartphone operated Handy Ultraviolet Disinfection Helper (SHUDH). This device has 6 UV lights of 15 Watts each that can be individually monitored from a distance. Initial testing has proved that the device at its full operation can disinfect a 10×10 squared feet room in about 15 minutes.
  • SHUDH can assist in killing the spread of coronavirus at the highly prone places such as hospitals, hotels, malls, offices and schools. The on/off, speed, and location of the product can be controlled remotely using your available smartphone while installing an android application

IIT-Hyderabad collaborates with NVIDIA to establish India’s first AI research center

  • The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) has collaborated with NVIDIA, a US-based multinational technology company, to establish India’s first ‘NVIDIA AI Technology Centre’(NVAITC) to accelerate research on Artificial Intelligence and its commercial adoption.
  • The centre will focus on advancing AI research in the areas of Agriculture and Smart Cities besides Language Understanding, increasing crop yield, support safer transportation systems and better ways of managing traffic, among others.

IIT Alumni Council inks Agreement with CSIR-IGIB

  • On 8th July 2020, an agreement has been inked between the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research- Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) and IIT Alumni Council for joint research work on COVID-19 and data of COVID-19 positive patients will also be analyzed jointly 

New ways to prevent memory loss due to Alzheimer discovered by IIT Guwahati
