Global Smart City Index 2020
  • The Institute for Management Development (IMD) and Singapore University for Technology and Design (SUTD) has jointly released the 2020 Smart City Index. 
  • Indian City, Hyderabad was placed at the 85th Position, New Delhi was placed at 86th Rank, Mumbai was ranked at 93rd Place and Bengaluru was at 95th Position.
  • The Index was topped by Singapore, followed by Helsinki and Zurich in the second and the third place respectively.

IIT-Hyderabad collaborates with NVIDIA to establish India’s first AI research center

  • The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) has collaborated with NVIDIA, a US-based multinational technology company, to establish India’s first ‘NVIDIA AI Technology Centre’(NVAITC) to accelerate research on Artificial Intelligence and its commercial adoption.
  • The centre will focus on advancing AI research in the areas of Agriculture and Smart Cities besides Language Understanding, increasing crop yield, support safer transportation systems and better ways of managing traffic, among others.

  • The device begun has UV C and other B, C, D components, the patenting technology that destroys surface and air microbes at 99.9 percent, useful for quarantine wards, hospitals for killing viruses like Corona.

Scientists at ARCI- Hyderabad emeges ‘solar receiver tube technology’ for industrial process heat
  • On March 13, 2020, Scientists at the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad (Telangana), has emerged a cost-effective ‘solar receiver tube technology’ that absorbs solar radiation and transforms it into heat for the targeted applications, especially in industries.
  • ARCI has filed 2 patent applications for this technology, and also signed an MoU(Memorandum of understanding) with Greenera Energy India Private Limited for technology transfer, that aims to develop the solar receiver tube for wider market absorption.

  • A 4 day (March 12-15) biennial event WINGS INDIA 2020 themed as ‘Flying For All’ is an International Exhibition & Conference on Civil Aviation sector held at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad, is planned by Ministry of Civil Aviation & Airports Authority of India(AAI) & Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
  • The purpose of the event is to give assistance to the quickly changing dynamics of the sector & focus on new business acquisition, investments, policy formation and regional connectivity.
