“Atmanirbhar Gujarat Sahay Yojana” started in Gujarat

  • Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on 14th May declared “Atmanirbhar Gujarat Sahay Yojana” wherein the urban and district cooperative banks and credit societies in the state will give Rs 5,000 crore as loans to small entrepreneurs and businessmen here at an interest rate of two percent.

  • Taser guns use compressed nitrogen to fire, by sending electricity through attached wires, which disrupt voluntary control of muscles.

Gujarat tops in domestic solar rooftop installations

Gujarat has topped the list for domestic solar rooftop installations with 64% of domestic solar installations. Nearly 50,915 systems being fixed on domestic rooftops in the State as on March 2, 2020. The State government of Gujarat has adopted a solar rooftop scheme “Surya Gujarat” to cover about eight lakh domestic electricity consumers under the scheme by 2022.

3rd Global Potato Conclave 2020 begins in Gujarat

The 3rd edition of Global Potato Conclave-2020 begins today at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the conclave through video conferencing. The Conclave will provide an opportunity to bring all stakeholders at one common platform. Last two Global Potato Conferences were organized during 1999, and 2008. Gujarat is one of the leading producers of Potato in the country.

Gujarat is holding the No. 1 position in India for last one decade, emerging as a major potato hub in the country. Hence, the Conclave is being held in Gujarat. The Conclave is being organized by Indian Potato Association (IPA) in collaboration with Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, and ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla and International Potato Center (CIP), Lima, Peru. This mega event has three major components; (i) The Potato Conference, (ii) The Agri Expo and (iii) Potato Field Day.
