India will host the Summit of the G20 Group in 2023. India was earlier slated to host the summit in 2022.
India and Indonesia have interchanged their respective hosting year of G20 as Indonesia would also host the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2023.
The 15th G20 Summit was conducted under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia chaired the Summit through video-conferencing, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two-day Summit was held under the theme “Realising the Opportunities of the 21st Century for All”.
The Environment Ministerial Meeting (EMM) of the G20 countries was held through video conferencing under the Presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Union Environment, Climate Change and Forest Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar represented India in the meeting.
Saudi Arabia will host the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Extraordinary Meeting virtually. India proposed the setting up of voluntary ‘G20 Principles on Coordinated Cross-Border Movement of People’. India will be represented by the External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar.
Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad epitomized India in the virtual meeting of the G20 Digital Economy Minister under the hosted by Saudi Arabia.
G-20 has launched a new initiative “Access to COVID-19 tools accelerator” under Saudi Arabia. The aim of this initiative is to make sure the availability of all tools necessary to fight COVID-19 to all the members countries.
Saudi arabia organized G-20 Extraordinary Agriculture Ministers Meeting virtually due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Main focus of the meeting was on the food availability and to tackle any possibility of food shortage due to coronavirus. Union Agriculture minister Narendra Singh tomar participated in this meeting.
