Prime Minister Narendra Modi has virtually addressed the 12th (BRICS) Summit.
The Summit was conducted under the Chairmanship of Russian President Vladimir Putin.India will be taking over the Chairmanship of the BRICS in 2021 and host the 13th BRICS Summit in 2021.
The 8th BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation Ministerial Meeting was conducted through a virtual platform for Science and Technology cooperation among the member countries, which are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
The meeting was held under the leadership of the Russian Federation.
Russia chaired the 10th Meeting of the BRICS High Representatives on National Security that will deliberate upon the issues related to strengthening political security and cooperation among the five countries.
The 5th BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Russian Federation. India was represented by Prahlad Singh Patel in the 5th BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meet.
Union Minister of Youth and Sports Kiren Rijiju announced that India is planning to host BRICS Games 2021 during the same time and at the same venues as of Khelo India Games 2021.
BRICS conducted its 6th Environment Ministers’ Meeting through Video Conferencing in which our Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar represented India and elaborated about the efforts made by India in areas relating to sustainable urban management, tackling marine litter, air pollution and the cleaning of rivers.
The Deputy Commissioner of Mumbai Customs and a 2011 batch Indian Revenue Service Officer, Mr. Sahil Seth, has been selected as an honorary advisor for the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) for the duration 2020 to 2030.
The meeting of the Heads of Tax Authorities of the BRICS countries, viz. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa was held on 29 May. The meeting was done by the Federal Tax Service of Russia.
