  • The Border Security Force (BSF), is celebrating its 56th Raising Day on 01 December 2020. BSF was formed on December 1, 1965, as a combined central agency, after the Indo-Pak and India-China wars, for assuring the security of the borders of India and for matters connected therewith.

Surjit Singh Deswal receives additional charge of BSF DG

Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Haryana cadre Surjit Singh Deswal took over the additional charge of Director General (DG) of Border Security Force (BSF). Deswal, a 1984-batch IPS officer, is currently the Director-General of Indo-Tibet Border Police. He has succeeded Director-General Vivek Johri, who has been appointed Director-General of Madhya Pradesh Police.

Abhinav Kumar gets extension as BSF IG

The appointments committee of the Cabinet approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for extending the deputation tenure of IPS Abhinav Kumar, Inspector General. 

The appointment Committee of the Cabinet approved the plan of Ministry of Home Affairs for extension of deputation tenure of IPS Abhinav Kumar, Inspector General, Border Security Force (BSF) beyond 31.10.2019 and up to 27.07.2021 in relaxation of IPS Tenure Policy.
