Shardul Thakur appointed as brand ambassador of Tata Power

  • On March 13, 2020 HIL (India) Limited, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, in association with Union Bank of India launched Customer Payment Portal in New Delhi to collect the payment from the customers through various online modes for fast & smooth collection of dues.
  • It is introduced to speed up the Government’s vision of ‘Digital India’.
  • This portal enables HIL customers to quickly & conveniently pay their outstanding debts from their homes or offices using any debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI or online wallet.

39th GST Council meet on ’ Know your Supplier’ ; GST on mobile phones hiked to 18%

  • On 14 March 2020, several decisions have been taken regarding the Goods and Services Tax (GST) mechanism on particular sections during the 39th GST Council meet in New Delhi led by Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
  • GST on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) service in respect to aircraft was reduced to 5%from 18% with full ITC (Input Tax Credit).
  • Net cash tax liability is came at after deducting the input tax credits available from gross tax liability. GST on mobile phones and specified parts were increased to 18% from 12%.

Niue announced as world’s first ‘Dark Sky Nation’

  • With this, Niue has become the world’s first whole country to be recognised as a ‘Dark Sky Place’.

Mansukh Mandaviya starts ‘Ropax’ ferry service in Maharashtra

  • Union Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya was started ‘Ropax’ passenger ferry service between Mumbai and Mandwa, Maharashtra.
  • The vessel, constructed in Greece, can carry 200 cars and 1,000 passengers and is capable of plying even during monsoon.
  • The road distance between Mumbai and Mandwa is 110 kilometres. It can reach speeds of 14 knots and will finish the 18-kilometre sea journey in 45 minutes to one hour.

CRPF & Aditya Mehta foundation ink MoU to enable the ‘Divyang Warriors’

  • The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) signed a deal with a disability support NGO Aditya Mehta Foundation, to train its troops, who lost their limbs in operations, in various skills including cyber operations, artificial intelligence and para-sports.

Oil India inks COSA agreement with Numaligarh Refinery

  • India’s second-largest national oil explorer, Oil India Limited (OIL) has signed the Crude Oil Sales Agreement (COSA) with Numaligarh Refinery.
  • The agreement has been inked by the two entities for sale and purchase of crude oil.
  • It is expected to streamline sale and purchase transactions of crude oil which will be prepared from fields in the North East India.
  • It will be effective for a term of five years, i.e. from 1 April, 2020 to 31 March 2025.

Hirdesh Kumar appointed as new Chief Electoral Officer of J&K

Hirdesh Kumar
  • The Election Commission of India (ECI) has been selected Hirdesh Kumar as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
  • He will take the place of Shailendra Kumar with effect from the date he assumes charge.
  • He is a 1999 batch IAS officer & currently serving as Commissioner Secretary in the School Education Department of J&K.
