  • Kamal Nath has stepped down as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. He has resigned ahead of the floor test which was scheduled to be held on 20th March 2020 in the state assembly.
  • He will submit his resignation to Lal Ji Tandon, governor of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Kamal Nath sworn-in as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh after winning the state Assembly polls held in 2018.

Mansukh Mandaviya starts ‘Ropax’ ferry service in Maharashtra

  • Union Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya was started ‘Ropax’ passenger ferry service between Mumbai and Mandwa, Maharashtra.
  • The vessel, constructed in Greece, can carry 200 cars and 1,000 passengers and is capable of plying even during monsoon.
  • The road distance between Mumbai and Mandwa is 110 kilometres. It can reach speeds of 14 knots and will finish the 18-kilometre sea journey in 45 minutes to one hour.

  • On March 13, 2020, Scientists at the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad (Telangana), has emerged a cost-effective ‘solar receiver tube technology’ that absorbs solar radiation and transforms it into heat for the targeted applications, especially in industries.
  • ARCI has filed 2 patent applications for this technology, and also signed an MoU(Memorandum of understanding) with Greenera Energy India Private Limited for technology transfer, that aims to develop the solar receiver tube for wider market absorption.

Assam Government to build 33 stadiums under Uttaran scheme

  • The Assam Government plans to build 33 stadiums across the state under the Uttaran Scheme, 300 crores will be given to construct these stadiums declared by Principal Secretary of Sports Avinash Joshi and Joint Director Kamaljit and 500 playgrounds are being built to encourage rural talents.
  • The Government has finalized to provide an amount of Rs.50,000 to 1000 players and Rs.75,000 will be given to 2500 clubs.

HP to get US$80 Mn to improve water management practices

The Government of India, Government of Himachal Pradesh have inked a US$80 million loan agreement with the World Bank. The loan agreement aims to enhance water management practices and to improve agricultural productivity in 428 Gram Panchayats of Himachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has released ‘NIGHA’ app to ensure ‘clean and healthy’ elections. This would be done by limiting the use of money and alcohol in the upcoming local body elections. The Panchayat Raj Department has set up the NIGHA app to empower common citizens to lodge complaints seamlessly.

‘Fagli’ festival observed in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh

The traditional ‘Fagli’ festival was observed in Yangpa village of Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh to observe the “victory of good over evil”. This festival is celebrated to mark the end of winter or the beginning of spring. It is celebrated in the entire valley on the moonless night or Amavasya.

University of Ranchi starts “RADIO KHANCHI 90.4 FM Aap Sabka Radio”

University of Ranchi has started its own Community Radio Station named as RADIO KHANCHI 90.4 FM Aap Sabka Radio. The radio was launched on the occasion of International Women’s Day and would give help to university students which is spread over a campus of more than 15 kms. Radio Khanchi under Ranchi University remains to be the first-ever University in the Eastern Zone to be gifted with a Community Radio Station by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and sponsored by Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Jharkhand.
