  • Two new technologies namely “Disinfectant spray for surface application” and “Disinfectant spray for Vegetables & fruits” have been developed by the Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT) to remove pesticide residues left over on the surface.

ICMR clinical trial finds convalescent plasma therapy against COVID-19 to be ineffective

  • The trials called PLACID Trials were conducted between 22nd April and 14th July at 39 centres across the country. 
  • There was not any significant difference in mortality rates between those who received convalescent plasma therapy and those in the control group.

World’s Largest Solar Tree developed by CSIR-CMERI

  • The CSIR-CMERI has set up the world’s largest solar tree at its residential colony in Durgapur, West Bengal. The solar tree has an installed capacity above 11.5 kWp.
  • The annual capacity of the solar tree will include generating about 12,000-14,000 units of clean and green power.
  • Objective: to ensure maximum exposure of each Solar PV Panel to sunlight and create least amount of shadow area beneath.
