India accepts 2nd batch of Three Rafale Aircraft

• The second batch of three Rafale jets arrived in Jamnagar, Gujarat on 4th November 2020, after flying non-stop from France.

DMC started the “Plastic Lao Mask Le Jao” initiative

• In Uttarakhand, Dehradun Municipal Corporation (DMC) has started a drive named Plastic Lao MASK LE JAO to combat the menace of plastic waste and contain the spread of COVID-19.
• It has distributed Five thousand face masks in replacement for plastic waste.

Tanzania President John Pombe Magufuli wins 2nd time

• The President of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli has been sworn for a second five-year term.
• He took the pledge of office on 05 November 2020. Magufuli won 84% of the total votes in elections held on October 28.

Shaktikanta Das chairs 40th SAARCFINANCE Governors’ Group meeting

• Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das on 4th Nov inaugurated and led the 40th meeting of the SAARCFINANCE Governors’ Group.
• During his opening remarks, the RBI Governor highlighted the strong partnership and co-operation among the member countries in jointly fighting the pandemic. The group received stock of the macroeconomic situation in the SAARC region and discussed the current SAARCFINANCE initiatives.

PM Modi and Italian PM to hold Bilateral Summit

• The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, will organize a virtual bilateral summit with his Italian counterpart, Giuseppe Conte on November 6, 2020. During the virtual summit, both the leaders would ink 15 pacts in the field of trade, energy, shipbuilding and culture.
• The summit will explore the possibilities of Italian investments in India. The primary focus will be on investments in defense. Both countries will also discuss hosting the G20 summit.

Prasar Bharati CEO to Head New Central Committee on TRP System

• The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has organized a four-member committee, to evaluate the existing Television Rating Points (TRP) of TV channels. The committee will be led by Prasar Bharati CEO, Shashi S Vempati.
• TRP is calculated in India by the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) using a device called Bar-O-Meter, which is installed in over 45,000 households across the country.
