Karnataka to set up integrated biotech and life sciences park in Bengaluru

• Rs 5,000 crore worth life sciences park to be set up in Bengaluru with an aim to generate employment for 50,000 people.
• The project is being set up under a public-private partnership with the government of Karnataka and private entity Labzone Corp.
• The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by December 2022. It will be spread across 9 million square feet in Bengaluru electronic city. 52.27 acres has been allotted.

MHRD has been renamed as Ministry of Education

• The Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) has been renamed as the Ministry of Education. The Union Cabinet has also approved a new education policy- National Education Policy 2020. The National Education Policy 2020 comprises major reforms in the higher education sector including a target of 50% gross enrolment ratio by 2035 and a provision for multiple entry and exit.
