RBI starts Report of Committee For Analysis of QR Code led by Prof. Deepak B Phatak

  • On July 24, 2020, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publicized the “Report of the Committee for Analysis of QR (Quick Response) Code” under the leadership of Prof. Deepak B. Phatak on its website for comments/suggestions of various industry players.
  • The committee has advised phasing out of proprietary, closed-loop QR codes as it requires customers to manage separate apps.
  • The committee was constituted by RBI on 23rd december 2019.

  • On July 22, 2020, the Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawal, Flag Officer Commanding-in-chief, Southern Naval Command (SNC), virtually operated the 3 MegaWatt (MW) largest Solar Power Plant at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala
  • The project is a part of the Indian Government’s initiative of National Solar Mission, to attain 100 GigaWatt (GW) of solar power by 2022. 

India, Maldives inked a contract for development of Geydoshu Mas Plant in Maldives’ Maradhoo and Hulhudhoo

  • On July 22, 2020, India and Maldives signed an agreement to set up Geydoshu Mas Plant (Neighborhood Fish Processing Plants) at two islands in the Addu city of Maldives namely Maradhoo and Hulhudhoo. 
  • The contract inking ceremony was carried out in Addu City, which attended virtually Maldives’ Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Sunjay Sudir, along with other members of Maldives’ Ministry of Foreign affairs.

The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited(NPCIL) declared that Unit-3 of Kakrapar Atomic Power Project(KAPP-3), India’s First 700 MWe (megawatt electric) and indigenously prepared Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor(PHWR) in Surat, Gujarat attained its first criticality – beginning of controlled and sustained nuclear fission reaction on 22nd July 2020(Wednesday).

India to have 60 percent renewable energy by 2030 said Power minister RK Singh

  • India will have approximately 60 percent of its installed electricity generation potential from clean sources by 2030, Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister R K Singh said on 22nd July.
  • The minister also oozed confidence that the renewable energy capacity would touch 510 GW by 2030, including 60 GW of hydropower.

COVID-19 Testing facility launched by DRDO in Leh

COVID-19 Testing facility launched by DRDO in Leh
  • A COVID-19 testing facility is established by DRDO in Leh with an aim to enhance the rate of testing of Coronavirus cases in UT of Ladakh.
  • The centre is inaugurated by the UT’s Lt Governor Shri RK Mathur and it is capable of screening 50 samples per day.
  • The facility follows the safety standards and guidelines given by ICMR.

The Pilot project of Nation Transit Pass system is launched by Prakash Javadekar

  • The Pilot project of Nation Transit Pass system is virtually launched by the Environment Minister  Prakash Javadekar at Indira Paryavaran Bhawan in New Delhi.
  • The main objective of this project is to enhance the seamless movement of forest produce under the Digital  India Movement.
  • People can apply for their transit pass through their mobile phone and can receive e-passes for that.

‘Vriksharopan Abhiyan’ launched by Amit Shah in New Delhi

  • Union Minister Amit Shah launched a campaign which is organized by the Ministry of Coal named ‘Vriksharopan Abhiyan’ under which trees will be planted in offices, mines and colonies.
  • He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for six eco-parks and tourism sites.
  • The coal ministry’s ‘Going Green’ initiative will kick start through active participation of coal and lignite PSUs as well as private miners

● The Vice President unveiled the statue of Dr. Ambedkar at the CAG office in New Delhi to work on his vision to ensure independence and a wide mandate to the CAG.
● The Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG is a strong and credible institution and the credit for this must go to the framers of the Constitution, particularly to Dr. BR Ambedkar.

● The trial run will be completed after the Indian goods reach Tripura and Assam.
● After unloading from the Chattogram Port, Bangladeshi prime mover trucks would
carry the goods to West Tripura and Assam through Agartala Land Port.
