India-European Union virtual bilateral summit on July 15

• India and the European Union (EU) will hold their 15th bilateral Summit on July 15 via video conference.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will represent India while the EU will be represented by President of the European Council Charles Michel, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
• Summit will review India-EU cooperation covering political & security relations, trade & investment and economic cooperation.

4th edition of the virtual Ministerial on Climate Action organized

• The fourth edition of the virtual Ministerial on Climate Action was co-chaired by the European Union, China and Canada.
• In the meeting, India was represented by the Union Environment Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar.

UltraTech’s subsidiary to sell the whole stake in Chinese cement firm for $129 million

• Krishna Holdings, a subsidiary of UltraTech Nathdwara Cement, will trade its entire 92.5 percent stake in China’s Shandong Binani Rongan Cement for around $129 million. UltraTech Nathdwara Cement is a subsidiary of the UltraTech Cement.

The 36th ASEAN Summit to be hosted by Vietnam

• On June 26, 2020, the 36th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit was carried out by video conference on the theme “Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN”. The summit was led by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc as Vietnam is ASEAN’s chair in 2020.

Trustees of PM CARES select SARC & Associates as auditor of the fund

• Trustees of the PM CARES Fund have selected SARC & Associates as auditor of the fund. Its website pmcares.gov.in tells trustees of the fund, which is called Prime Minister’s Citizens Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund, designated “SARC & Associates, Chartered Accountants, New Delhi, as the auditors” for three years.

Modi-Morrison online summit: India, Australia sign landmark defense pact

• India and Australia on 4th June upgraded their bonds to a comprehensive strategic partnership and inked seven agreements including a landmark deal for reciprocal access to military bases for logistics support through an online summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison.
