Saudi Arabia will host G20 Foreign Ministers’ Extraordinary Meeting

• Saudi Arabia will host the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Extraordinary Meeting virtually. India proposed the setting up of voluntary ‘G20 Principles on Coordinated Cross-Border Movement of People’. India will be represented by the External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar.

8th East Asia Summit was held virtually on 28 August 2020

• The 8th East Asia Summit (Economic Ministers’ Meeting) was held virtually on 28 August 2020 which was attended by the Economic ministers from the 10 ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) members and eight other nations.
• The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal represented India in the Summit.
• Objective: to strengthen the regional supply chains, become resilient during this challenging time of Covid-19 pandemic.

14th India-Singapore Defence Policy Dialogue

• India and Singapore conducted the fourteenth Defence Policy Dialogue via video conferencing. The conference was Co-chaired by Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar Permanent Secretary (Defence), and his Singaporean counterpart Mr Chan Heng Kee.

New Zealand postponed its General Election to October 17 due to COVID-19 pandemic

• The Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern announced that the General election of the country is postponed by four weeks to October 17. This decision has been taken due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. As per the country’s law, Elections are to be held before November 21.

BRICS conducted its 6th Environment Ministers’ Meeting virtually

New Delhi holds India-Indonesia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue
