Indians’ money in Swiss Banks down 6% at Rs 6,625 Crore in 2019

  • Funds deposited by Indian individuals and enterprises in Swiss banks, including through India-based branches, sank nearly 6 percent in 2019 to 899 million Swiss francs (Rs 6,625 crore), annual data from Swiss National Bank revealed on 25th June.

India slides down at 77th place in estimating money in Swiss banks

  • India has rolled down three spots to 77th rank in terms of money deposited by its citizens and enterprises with Swiss banks at the end of 2019, while the UK has maintained its top position, as per the recent data from Switzerland’s central bank. India was placed 74th in the previous year.

NASA’s headquarter building identified after ‘Mary W.Jackson’

  • NASA declared that its headquarters will be entitled after one of its history-making engineers. In a news release, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine told that the agency’s Washington, D.C., headquarters building will be named after Mary W. Jackson, its first African American female engineer.

NCAER forecasts India’s GDP growth at 1.3% in FY21

  • National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) announced the Indian economy could be developing at 1.3% in FY21 as a base case scenario. This prediction is based on the incorporation of the monetary and fiscal stimulus measures undertaken by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the central government.

YSR Jagananna colonies with 30 lakh houses to be constructed in Andhra Pradesh

  • The State Government of Andhra Pradesh will take up the building of 3 Million (30 lakh) houses under the YSR Jagananna Colonies plan after distributing the house localities to the recipients on 8th July 2020. Jagananna Colonies is part of the State Government’s Navratnalu- Pedalandariki Illu (houses for all the poor) Program.

Govt starts PM FPE scheme

  • The government on 29th June started the PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME) scheme as a part of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ and as a part of Prime Minister’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’. It will serve 8 lakh units through access to information, training, better exposure and formalization.

  • India and Bhutan inked a pact for the construction of the 600 MW Kholongchhu project, their first hydropower joint venture project in Bhutan’s less advanced eastern region of Trashiyangtse. The project’s “Concession agreement,” which was inked in the presence through video-conference.

World Bank grants USD 500 million to improve the quality of Education System

  • The World Bank on 28th June declared its Board of Executive Directors has permitted USD 500 million (about Rs 3,700 crore) loan to upgrade quality and governance of school education in six Indian states. The board authorized a loan for Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States Program (STARS) on June 24, 2020.
